JASON PAUL BPOWN was born in Aldershot Military Hospital on 13th June 1976 to Justin and Marylin Brown, baby brother to Donna. Father Justin and mother Marilyn had a lot on their hands with the daredevil boy. J's father Justin was a military man and due to his work J's family traveled constantly moving 13 times by the time he had reached high school. He's lived in Germany, Canada and all over the North of England...before finally settling down in Warrington (near Manchester). Justin and Marylin bought both their kids up to speak their minds, say what their thinking and that's just what J did. From the time J could think for himself he creating havoc for those around him. From driving his mother insane by throwing tantrums to throwing bowls of spaghetti over his head because he didn't want his food, J came into the world loudly. Punishment just meant more of a chance to misbehave. Being locked in his room was a chance to recolor his walls with crayons, being told off was a chance to scream back at his parents. Even his sister who once saved young Jason from falling from a 3 story window was not immuned from J's wrath. Spending nights at his grandparents gave J a chance to kick his sister laying in the top bunk of the bed they shared. To make his sister scream was a pleasure.

Unemployed at the age of 16 J moved in with his sister and nephew Kyle when his parents moved to London. Living in Warrington where J had spent most his teen years J decided that he would stay home to look after his nephew while his sister return to work. Jason had been singing "since he could remember" and as a teenager, prowled the dance/club scene in the nearby metropolis of Manchester. J did fairly well in school and even took a few college level classes.From day one J knew what he wanted, MUSIC and nothing was going to stop him from achieving his goal. Although he despised boybands like East17 and Take That J's parents insisted he got into a boyband. J's first band Prophets of Da Funk failed. J sent demo after demo of what he believed to be his best work to record companies trying to get a contract but all he got was, "you should be in a boyband" or "sorry your not what were looking for". He also got heavily into body-building and built himself up to an imposing 210 lbs of muscle.

At 20 J was living with his girlfriend in his parents old house in Newton Le Willows, unemployed, desperate and seriously thinking of suicide when he saw an ad in "The Stage" for a new boyband being formed. J, having disliked boybands had decided to give it a go. His audition was described as rude, crude, lewd and absolutely fantastic. The general consensus was that J stole the show. He thought little of "boybands", but decided to try out for Five anyway. Fortunately, his edge, powerful voice, and funky style made him a natural for the group. J soon became the eldest member of the "ladband" Five. J was the oldest and known as the *dad* of the band. "Before I got into Five I wanted to be a solo performer but not now, the people in this business can be so shit. It's all politics and keeping people sweet, people at radio stations or people in your own record company. It's supposed to be about the music but it rarely is and I can't be bothered anymore. I'm in Five cos it's still a buzz and I'm working with four of my best friends - but when that's finished so am I." He was almost 21...

Five disbanded on 27th September 2001 after 4 and a half years together. Now that Five are no more J says, "It came to a natural end. There isn't a single problem between us. Right at the start we said that if we ever got massive we should end it while we were on top."Honestly, I know it's the right thing to happen. I can definitely say I won't be seen or heard of again. I've had a wonderful experience of the industry and it's over. I've seen the world, shagged loads of beautiful women, met brilliant people and it has made me a different person."Some people like being in the spotlight but to me it's a bit self-gratifying and shallow. I've done things in the last five years that people couldn't do in five lifetimes. I just want to do something else."I admit I have cried over this because of the memories of the other guys. But I'm relieved in a way because I can do things I want to do now."

After this time (September 01) J spent quite a bit of his time reading, studying Eastern Philosophies and travelling around Europe (several times), India (for a few months), Sweden (a few times), France (a few times and snowboarding with Ritchie), the Alps and Great Britian. J spent quite a bit of time in Spain where his mum and sister now live. Spending christmas there as he found it "a haven in the wintertime when it's freezing cold in England. You go over and it's kind of like a spring day." J also did some home renovations and just plain relaxing and reading. During his time after Five he spent most his time with longtime girlfriend Anna (started dating in Jan 02 and still dating in 06 - they have been on and off during this time) enjoying his freedom.
